Full Face Neurotoxin

Neurotoxin Treatments by KSD Aesthetics in Madison WI

In the everchanging aesthetic industry we are quickly learning full facial balancing is utmost important when it comes to our patients happiness and satisfaction. Yet, on a daily basis I notice patients have never heard of getting botox in places other than their forehead.

With that being said, let’s dive into various areas where botox can be injected!

Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport, Daxxify, Xeomin are all brands of Botulinum Toxin A, which is a neurotoxin commonly injected in various parts of the head/neck region to temporarily inhibit the contraction of certain muscles, resulting in the disappearance of fine lines and wrinkles. However, this liquid gold has more anti-aging properties to offer that many patients may not be aware of. Depending where your injector is placing this product, Botox also has the ability to slim and contour the face as well as decrease pore size and oil production.

Upper face Botox:

Frontalis:

The most common area known by patients. This muscle lifts your eyebrows up, known as an elevator muscle. This muscle is also what produces the horizontal lines across the forehead. When botox is placed in this muscle the uplifting aspect of the forehead will be more relaxed, which could potentially drop the eyebrows lower on the face if the glabella is not treated in conjunction.

Glabella:

This region is the combination of the muscle between the brows (procerus) and the muscles that bring your eyebrows down and together when you make an angry face (corrugators). The glabella is a depressor muscle. Opposite to the frontalis, the elevator. When this region is injected with botox the ability to move your eyebrows down and together is significantly decreased, leaving most patients with a very natural looking brow lift.

Orbicularis Oculi:

Widely known as the crows feet. This muscle is a sphincter muscle that opens and closes the eye. As we age, we lose elastin around the eye leaving us with fine lines and wrinkles due to everyday smiling and/or squinting. When botox is injected into this area the fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes relax.

Lower face Botox:

Now this is what so many people are missing out on! Botox in the lower face can be a MAJOR game changer for patients.

Masseter:

This muscle extends from the cheek area down to the mandible and is one of the major chewing muscles. Injecting botox into the masseter can provide both aesthetic and functional benefits. Aesthetically, botox here can slim the face. Functionally, botox in this area can decrease clenching of the teeth, jaw pain and relieve TMJ symptoms.

Depressor Anguli Oris:

AKA the DAO is the muscle that pulls the corner of the mouth down when you frown. When injecting botox in the DAO, it weakens the muscle activity resulting in less downturning of the mouth, less jowling and a more youthful appearance.

Platysma bands:

Don’t forget the neck! By using small doses of botox in the muscles of the neck you will experience a subtly lifted neck and a more defined jawline.
